The quick-to-install click system made of WPC (= Wood Plastic Composite) is weatherproof, robust, easy to maintain and hardly ever turns grey . The wood-plastic composite is very trendy and is used in the garden as a fence, patio decking and also as a raised bed. WPC is a material that gives the garden a beautiful wooden look. The main difference is that WPC is much less susceptible to different weather conditions and therefore guarantees a beautiful look for a long time.

What influence does the weather have on the floorboards?

Despite the weather-resistant properties of WPC boards, leaves and garden waste in combination with a lot of moisture can lead to the formation of mold, moss and algae. Regular cleaning and maintenance is therefore essential . Cleaning and maintenance is particularly important in spring after a wet winter. The weather makes scratches less visible and stains can even disappear on their own . Logically, covered terraces weather less quickly, but they require more cleaning because precipitation does not carry away the dirt as much. With partially covered terraces, differences can appear after a while between the covered and uncovered areas .

Cleaning WPC is so easy

Various aids and tools can be used to clean WPC. First, coarse dirt, such as leaves, should always be removed with a broom. The boards can then be cleaned using a brush or a floor mop . Warm water is often sufficient, but you can also add a little washing-up liquid or use a special cleaner for WPC. Then rinse with clean water. For the sake of the environment, make sure that the cleaners you use are environmentally friendly .

What to do if there are stains on the WPC boards?

Water and mildew stains caused by objects that have been standing in one place for a long time are also completely sufficient to remove them. Sometimes the rain washes away the unsightly stains , otherwise just use water and a brush. If the slope is too low, mildew stains can also occur, but these are not stubborn and can also be removed with water and a brush. Oil or grease stains caused by the grill or food can be removed quickly , as these are very stubborn and lead to annoying stains. Water and a little washing-up liquid or an all-purpose cleaner are also suitable for cleaning.

Can a high-pressure cleaner also be used to clean WPC boards?

A high-pressure cleaner is often practical, but it should be used with caution. It is best to stick to manual cleaning , as the high pressure damages the floorboards. The wood fibers contained in them could be washed out. If you still want to use the high-pressure cleaner, set a low pressure between 80 and 100 bar and keep a distance of 20 to 30 cm .

Impregnation of WPC boards after installation is essential

To ensure that the terrace shines for as long as possible, we recommend that you waterproof it immediately after laying it and once a year after basic cleaning . Allow the floor to dry thoroughly after cleaning and then apply the waterproofing using a paint roller. A paint tray can also be helpful. When applying the waterproofing, do not use too much waterproofing; this means that the solution should not remain on the boards but should be completely absorbed. The waterproofing must take effect for at least 20 minutes . If there is still excess solution left after the exposure time, you can dab it off with an old rag. Do not walk on the terrace for the next two hours so that the waterproofing can dry completely.

As you can see, cleaning and maintaining WPC is quick and easy! All you need to clean it is water and a brush. With regular cleaning and maintenance, the terrace will stay in good condition!
