It is already spring and time for a spring cleaning. Not only the apartment, but also the car could do with a thorough cleaning after the winter. That is why today the "Felgenbeast" rim cleaner from Sonax is being tested and examined in detail. The rim cleaner, like many of Sonax's cleaners, is gentle on materials and promises quick and easy cleaning . It can be used on all steel and alloy rims, as well as painted, chrome-plated, polished and matt rims. It couldn't be easier, the cleaner can be used on any car.
The first impression of the rim beast from Sonax
The Felgenbeast is available in a spray bottle and contains 1 liter of cleaner. The spray bottle is ergonomic and has finger grooves on the spray neck. The cap can be turned on and off, thus securing the bottle and closing it properly. On the back of the bottle there are instructions for use and some information about the ingredients. It seems very easy to use, as all you need are protective gloves and, if necessary, a brush/old rag. The cleaner is sprayed onto the rims and needs to be allowed to work for 2-4 minutes . As soon as the liquid comes into contact with dirt, it turns red and the cleaning power unfolds. After the exposure time, spray the rims thoroughly with a strong jet of water or a high-pressure cleaner so that no residue remains.
What the Sonax Felgenbeast can really do
Well, the application doesn't seem to be complicated. I went to a self-service car wash to clean the rims because I don't have a garden and therefore no access to a water hose. Now that the car has summer tires on it, they can do with a good cleaning and are ideal for testing the rim cleaner. After I have put a generous amount of the cleaner on the rims, I let it work. After a few minutes, the cleaner slowly turns red. The scent of the cleaner is very sweet and reminiscent of pink chewing gum. After the exposure time, I take the high-pressure cleaner and thoroughly remove the dirt and cleaner.
Conclusion
Next I come to my conclusion. After I used the pressure washer to clean the rims and gave them a little help, they shine like new again. In some places the dirt from last spring/summer was a bit too stubborn. However, if you clean the rims regularly , you won't need to wipe them again . Furthermore, I personally found the sweet smell to be very strong after a while, and it actually lingered in the garage after a few days. But all in all, I can say that the cleaning power does what it promises and makes the rims shine again and, as I said, if you clean the rims more regularly, it is much easier and quicker to use.
