After a long break, there is another product test, just in time for the cycling season. Today we are testing the Sonax bike cleaner. It promises to be gentle on materials and remove stubborn dirt. The cleaner is also suitable for cleaning chains and sprockets. E-bikes can also be cleaned with it. The cleaner can be used on all materials such as carbon or matt paint without any problems.
The first impression of the Bike Cleaner from Sonax
The bike cleaner from Sonax is available in an ergonomic spray bottle with a capacity of 750 ml or in a 5 litre refill canister. The spray bottle has finger grooves on the neck, which ensure comfortable spraying. On the back of the bottle there is a short description of the properties of the cleaner and the instructions for use. In addition to this two pieces of information, you will also receive tips and safety instructions , which are also available in other languages. Using the cleaner is very simple, as you only need to spray the cleaner onto the bike and leave it to work for 5-10 minutes . The cleaner must not dry out and is then simply rinsed off with water after the exposure time. If there are still residues, you can use a soft sponge or cloth to help remove them.
What Sonax Bike Cleaner Can Really Do
Now that all the formal points have been clarified, we come to the important part, namely the cleaning effect. The bike to be cleaned was not cleaned over the winter and is therefore ideal for the product test, so the cleaner is exposed to stubborn dirt straight away. Let's see if the cleaner does what it promises. To do this, I spray the cleaner on the entire bike, especially on the very dirty areas. I notice that the cleaner has a pleasant scent . Now I let the cleaner work for a few minutes. Since I don't have a garden hose, I used an old rag and a bucket of water. It would be much easier with the garden hose, but it works perfectly with the rag too. The manufacturer also recommends not using a high-pressure cleaner . Instead, I dipped the rag in the water and didn't wring it out, but cleaned or wrung it out "soaking wet" over the areas. The dirt runs off without any problems. I only had to give it a little help in some stubborn and angled areas.
Conclusion
Finally, I come to my conclusion. All in all, I can say that the cleaner does what it promises . Cleaning is quick and easy. The exposure time is short and the dirt can be easily removed without much scrubbing . At most, you have to wipe it down with a cloth. Aside from the cloth, all you need is water. Cleaning a bike is not one of my favorite activities, but the quick and easy application makes it almost fun. The cleaner is almost self-cleaning and I don't have to scrub much. The pleasant scent rounds off the cleaning experience. The only small negative aspect is spraying the cleaner. The liquid cannot be sprayed onto the entire surface as it comes out of the bottle in more of a jet. This means that you have to spray more often and you may use a little more. However, this aspect does not affect the cleaning experience or the cleaning effect.
