Hard or soft rubber? Which wiper rubber should I use for which purpose? This question is often asked. First of all, the general rule is: for laymen, or for those who do not use window cleaning products professionally, i.e. on a daily basis, a hard rubber is sufficient. It has the advantage that it does not wear out so quickly. However, hard does not mean that the rubber is stiff, it just has a slightly harder rubber mixture. So if you do not hold both wiper rubbers in your hands, you would think that both products are made of soft rubber.
Use of soft rubber : This is used in very cold water temperatures. As we all know, everything gets a little harder in cold weather. This includes the wiper rubber. To prevent the rubber from becoming too hard and the work no longer being satisfactory, the water temperature is balanced out by the rubber thickness. The soft rubber is also well suited for structured windows.
Use of hard rubber : Exactly the opposite of soft rubber. Warm water temperatures prevent the rubber from becoming too soft, which could result in unsatisfactory results.
Here too, the thickness of the rubber compensates for the water temperature.
