There are currently two different ways to carry out a corona test. A distinction is made between the PCR test and the rapid corona test. The way the two tests work is different. The PCR test in comparison

How the Corona rapid test works

These rapid tests look like pregnancy tests and are easy to use. They are particularly suitable for use outside the laboratory. As with the PCR test, the rapid test requires a sample from the nasopharynx. The sample is then placed in a liquid and then a few drops are added to the test kit. Finally, the liquid is poured over a test strip. A result is available after just 15 minutes . In contrast to the PCR test, this rapid test is somewhat less reliable, but the rapid tests can determine earlier whether someone is infected. The risk of infection is usually highest when there are no symptoms yet. The rapid test can be useful in the following situations : acute outbreak, acute illness, precautions for at-risk groups or precautions during school operations or events . When using rapid tests, it must be noted that if the test is negative, infection cannot be ruled out 100%. It simply indicates that the risk of infection is low on that day. A more reliable result is obtained when there is a high risk of infection.
