Hygienic hand disinfection is not only one of the most important, but also one of the most frequently practiced hygiene measures in healthcare facilities. And yet, practical tests repeatedly show that hands have significant gaps in wetting. In order for hand disinfection to be as effective as possible, all skin areas must be rubbed with sufficient hand disinfectant for at least 30 seconds.
6 steps to successful hand disinfection
1. Palm to palm - Attention: Including wrist
2. Right palm over left back of hand and left palm over right back of hand
3. Palm to palm with interlaced, spread fingers
4. Outside of the fingers on opposite palms with interlaced fingers
5. Circular rubbing of the right thumb in the closed left palm and vice versa
6. Circular rubbing back and forth with closed fingertips of the right hand in the left palm and vice versa
In general
Pour disinfectant into dry hands. Following the procedure described above, rub the product vigorously into your hands up to your wrists for 30 seconds. Repeat the movements of each step five times. After completing the 6th step, repeat the individual steps until the specified rubbing time has been reached. Make sure that your hands remain moist for the entire rubbing time. If necessary, use more hand disinfectant.
